Getting Started

What is Bēkon?

Bēkon brings together 5-7 strangers for dinner at a local, non-chain restaurant. The restaurant is revealed 24 hours before the event, and your dining companions remain a surprise until you arrive. It is a simple way to meet new people over a great meal.

How do I sign up?

Download the Bēkon app, create an account with your email, and complete a short questionnaire. The questionnaire helps us match you with a compatible group of diners.

Where is Bēkon available?

We are launching in Northwest Arkansas (NWA). We plan to expand to additional regions based on demand. Stay tuned!

Is there an age requirement?

Yes. You must be at least 18 years old to use Bēkon. Your date of birth is collected during registration and cannot be changed afterward.


How It Works

How are dinner groups formed?

Our matching algorithm uses your questionnaire responses to create groups of 4-7 people. We aim for a mix of personalities that will lead to engaging conversation -- not perfect compatibility, but genuine variety.

When do I find out the restaurant?

The restaurant is revealed 24 hours before the dinner. You will receive a notification with the restaurant name, address, and reservation time.

Can I bring a friend?

You can sign up with one friend (a "+1"). To keep the stranger-meeting dynamic alive, each event allows a maximum of two people who already know each other.

What types of restaurants does Bēkon use?

We partner exclusively with local restaurants -- never a chain. Local restaurant groups are welcome, but you will not see national franchises. We select from a curated pool of restaurants in your region.

When are dinners held?

Currently, all dinners are held on Wednesday evenings. We chose a midweek night to give you something to look forward to during the week.


Payments & Pricing

How much does Bēkon cost?

You pay a per-event fee when you sign up for a dinner. This covers platform costs and restaurant coordination. The price of your meal is separate -- you pay for your own food and drinks directly at the restaurant, just like a normal dinner out.

How do I pay?

Payment is handled securely through Stripe. You add a payment method in the app and are charged when you book an event. We never store your full card number.

What is your refund policy?

If you cancel before groups are matched, you receive a full automatic refund. Once you have been matched to a group, refunds are not available because your cancellation affects the other diners and the restaurant reservation.


Your Account

How do I update my profile?

Open the app, go to your profile tab, and edit your information. You can update your first name, fun fact, and dietary restrictions at any time.

Can I change my region?

Yes. Go to your profile and select a new region. You will only see events available in your active region.

Can I retake the questionnaire?

Not at this time. If you feel your answers no longer reflect you, email us at contact@bekon.app and we can reset it for you.

How do I delete my account?

Email contact@bekon.app from the email address on your account with the subject "Account Deletion Request." We will process the deletion within 30 days. See our account deletion page for full details.


At the Dinner

How does payment work at the restaurant?

Each person pays for their own food and drinks individually. There is no shared tab or pre-payment for the meal. Order what you like, just as you would at any restaurant.

What about dietary restrictions?

You can list dietary restrictions in your profile, and we consider them when selecting restaurants. However, Bēkon does not guarantee that every restaurant can accommodate every dietary need. You are responsible for communicating directly with the restaurant about allergies or specific requirements.

What if I need to cancel?

You can cancel through the app. If you cancel before groups are matched, you will receive a full refund. After matching, cancellations are not refundable. Please cancel as early as possible so we can adjust the group.

What if someone does not show up?

No-shows affect the experience for everyone. Repeated no-shows may result in a warning or suspension of your account per our Terms of Service.


Safety & Community

How does Bēkon keep dinners safe?

All dinners take place at established, vetted restaurants in public settings. We enforce a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, hate speech, or disrespectful behavior. Anyone who violates our community standards will be removed from the platform.

What if I have a bad experience?

Email us at contact@bekon.app with details. We take every report seriously and will follow up with you directly.


Privacy & Data

What data does Bēkon collect?

We collect your profile information, questionnaire responses, event history, and payment references. We never store full card numbers. For the full picture, read our Privacy Policy.

Who can see my information?

Your dining companions see only your first name and a few details (like your professional field and nationality) after you have been matched. Your full profile is never shared publicly.
